Random quote MOD

Postby Abera » Thu Feb 12, 2009 2:14 am

Hi Lefty,
Have you ever worked, or made a random quote MOD for the users of a forum? There are alot out there for the header and for the admin (highway of Life's), but none that I have found for the users. HOL says the his bbcode signature is a bad security risk if used by the users and I was wondering if you might want to make one using the ACP and the UCP?
Thanks

Hi Abera,
the simple and short answer is, no. i have neither considered nor thought about doing one like that. to be honest, i dont even know what that entails, it gets a quote from a third party website or would you enter a number of quotes and it randomly puts those out?

i am only curious as to how the random quotes are generated. i do not really have the time to do much new stuff.

Here is HoL's of doing it for the signature using a bbcode routine. It works great for the admin of a site. I was looking for the users of a site, but HoL says running it the way it is presents a high security risk.

and Ika's random quote for the header routine.

There's also a db version for the quotes from the Stargate portal, but none of them are in MOD form. I go out and get the quotes from different quotation sites. Then cut and paste to my site.

Thanks anyway...
