Re: [RC]ACP Announcement Centre 1.2.5

Postby Hippie459MN » Sun Feb 26, 2012 10:08 pm

I am having a problem. I tried installing 1.2.2 on my fresh 3.0.10 phpBB install and was getting the error that the table thing was to long so I came here and founf 1.2.5 and unistalled everything from the 1.22 install and now as soon as I try to access the installer (or any page for that matter) I get this error.

Code: Select all
Fatal error: in /home/hippie74/public_html/geekjunkies/includes/db/dbal.php on line 704

Any idea what could be causing this? I am going to start undoing edits one at a time and see what one effects it. If I find something I will report back.

EDIT:
Ok, If i remove this edit from includes/function.php my board will come back so its something in the edit or something. IDK
Code: Select all

   if( isset($config['announcement_enable']) && isset($config['announcement_show_birthdays_always']))
   {
      if ( !$config['announcement_show_index'] && ($config['announcement_enable'] || $config['announcement_show_birthdays_always']) )
      {
         if (!function_exists('get_announcement_data'))
         {
            include($phpbb_root_path . 'includes/functions_announcements.' . $phpEx);
         }
         get_announcement_data();
      }
   }

Any help would be great. :)

hi, i am sorry, i haven't tried this on 3.0.10 and i am unlikely to find time soon but this mod may be taken over soon so hopefully he will be able to get this mod running for 3.0.10 (if it isn't working on it).

I've done it both ways. On an upgrade from 3.0.9 to 3.0.10 worked fine. Also uninstalled it on a localhost, upgraded localhost to 3.0.10 from 3.0.9 and then installed 1.2.5 of the Annc. Center and worked fine. Had to do a few edits by hand IIRCC and had to juggle two lines of code to get it to work 100% but it's fine. I have 2 different Announce MODS working 100% side by side as well as two different Count Down / Count Up timers working side by side under one JS.

It just comes down to tinkering until you get what you need. Do everything on a localhost before persuing.

I'd suggest to you to install a vanilla 3.0.10 on your local host. Then install lefty's Annc. Center via automod on your local host. If that works for you, using WINMERGE (free program) Merge CAREFULLY the edits to your live forum. (Read below):

First download your live forum (backup, backup, backup). Make ONE copy of your live forum for Localhost and the other as your backup. Do the merges on your now BACKED UP live board running on your localhost to see if things run smoothly. If they do, then upload those files that you merged, to your live board. If things fail, you still have a backup of the live board, UNTOUCHED (don't you?). :tigs:

Hope this was not too much for you. I am an idiot most of the time. I've been doing edits for only 1.5 years but have gotten pretty good at finding the bugs.

Good luck. You are welcome to tell me to go jump off a bridge. :laughpound:

Hi guys,
I had no problem registering at Blue Blood's site just now.

A big thanks to him for taking this mod over as I personally loved writing this mod and using it. And another big thanks to all users of this mod. All of you contributed to what the mod became and I am really happy that this mod will live on a little longer :)

There were about a 1000 inactive registers, a lot were spam bots so I pruned all the inactive members.
You will have to register again...

I guess when I had the site on my local I never change the email settings, I was wondering why no one activated their account.. I need to add a contact admin mod for reason like this...

Sorry for the trouble!!!

The only bug I have found in 1.2.5 is in the MCP
When you set smilies not to show, there will be a link "View more smilies"
When you click it a window with all the smilies will pop up.
When clicking on a smilie in the pop up window the smilie code does not show in the announcement text box.

I have not gone back in older version to see if it works yet.
Maybe its a new bug maybe not..

I'm working on version 1.2.6 now.
I will have this bug fixed along with a version check and a few file edit changes.
Not a major update, just want to change things up for my coding style.

I will have 2 upgrade files 1.2.2 to 1.26
and 1.2.5 to 1.2.6

You can follow the development on my site now, as Lefty gave me permission to take over development.
