I dont understand why the author email only show in the acp listing, what a hassle to type that info just for ... yourself ? (well acp access...)

If its a antispam measure, first, could be bot/guest disabled (or even better... a perm?), then, its not very reliable anyhow, since the download link is there and 99% of times you get the author email, in the xml

So my question is why email show only on acp? :)

Im doing many additions to this mod (i got 1.0.5) but im not super confortable in making any instruction for addon or patch or whatever (not realy having time for that), if you are interrested, when im done i can send over my php files, template and the table columns

I dont know if its possible to get the editor in the acp ? (sry noob question...) but it would come in handy, to past in bbcodes (php for exemple)

Another noob question, whats the difference between a mediumtext field and a longtext one, i guess ammount of caracter you can pass in, but whats the limit, im going for troubles if i put too many text in comments ? (i copied your fields over many times for my needs)

And last, what about to sort mods in the acp view? (by version or author for exemple)
I saw some comments on the code about that, but not sure how to use it

Great mod btw, very handy

Merry christmas :)

arukAdo wrote:So my question is why email show only on acp?

i added that so if you want to quickly contact the mod author via email you can do so rather then opening the xml file etc. if you do not feel it to be of value, no need to fill it in ;)

i don't really have time to look through your code either to see what you changed. i don't think i will be adding anything to this at the moment anyway as i would like to get this validated and released now...

arukAdo wrote:I dont know if its possible to get the editor in the acp ? (sry noob question...) but it would come in handy, to past in bbcodes (php for exemple)
of course it would be possible but i didnt see the need to do that as it is only supposed to be a simple mods database.

Merry Christmas to you too! :)

Ok for medium text, should fit largely lol

I feel email as valuable ... if its also used in the users views, my question was rather, was it to counter spam (or not let access to mods authors emails) that you dont used it in modsdb_view.html ?

I see some code with comments for sorting in acp, should i use it or it doesnt work?

For the editor i meant that now i have like 5 text fields, with at least one i probably need to type a bit inside, instead of opening a editor in a seperate window to get the bbcodes, i was rather thinking to opening the editor directly into acp, well if its possible then i will find how too :)

Ill keep my changes for me then fine hehe, i forgot its called "simple" mod database, i tripled infos ;)

no, it was not to counter spam. the only reason i had it in the acp is that it would only be of use to whoever installs the mod, not who can see the listing, i might add it to the mod detail page for founders only like the installation date.

arukAdo wrote:I see some code with comments for sorting in acp, should i use it or it doesnt work?
which code with comments are you referring to? i am probably being blind but i cant see a reference to sorting in the acp. it just sorts by mod title.

it is possible ;)

if you want to put it out as addon feel free to do so :) as long as you leave credit to the original mod ;P

enjoy the holidays :)

I was wrong the comments are in modsdb.php, but refer to the acp, is how i got confused about them

// Additional sorting options for user search ... if search is enabled, if not
// then only admins can make use of this (for ACP functionality)

Now i see about the email, make sence, for my own case since others admins can install mods too, i will enable it with U_ACP instead of founder attrib

(planning on automods ... eventually)

lefty wrote:if you want to put it out as addon feel free to do so :) as long as you leave credit to the original mod ;P

Thanks, but no, i dont realy have time for that, and i probably code less better than you, would need a recheck and a little rewrite, that was just in case you was interrested :D

ok, mod got denied again. :sulk:

i was thinking of adding the possibility to show the mod installation date to modsdb.php overview and make it sortable, however, only admins with the appropriate permission would be able to see that.

this is what it looks like on prosilver (havent done that on subsilver2 yet) for admins that can add/edit mods.

i am not sure if the page gets too busy or not and would like to ask for feedback if possible if this is considered useful.

cheers

Dont know what to tell you, i dont see why they refuse it, the mod just work fine and is nice .... shame on them :/
Mine look like this now

For the users view, i think you need to remove the long description, i simply doubled the field "description", and now in the first, i put a very small one, the second i display it in the mod details (full description from xml)

looks nice :) but at the same time confusing to be honest.

i think i stick to the simple version for now as this is easier to support.

2008-12-31 - Version1.0.6
* fixed little language bug
* added sortable installation date
* changed query modsdb.php

I am having issues getting the WWW image to show up. I am using a different theme so I added my own 'icon_contact_www.gif' image from the original Prosilver theme and renamed it 'icon_modsdb_www.gif'

I then added this to the the following files

Uploaded icon_modsdb_www.gif to styles/prosilver/imageset/icon_modsdb_www.gif

Open includes/acp/acp_styles.php
Find
Code: Select all
'icon_contact_www',

Add After
Code: Select all
'icon_modsdb_www',

Open language/en/acp/styles.php
Find
Code: Select all
   'IMG_ICON_CONTACT_WWW'      => 'Website',

Add After
Code: Select all
   'IMG_ICON_MODSDB_WWW'      => 'Website',

Open styles/ca_gen2/imageset/imageset.cfg
Find
Code: Select all
img_icon_contact_www = icon_contact_www.gif*20*20

Add After
Code: Select all
img_icon_modsdb_www = icon_modsdb_www.gif*20*20

Open modsdb.css
Find
Code: Select all
ul.moddb-icons1 li.web-icon   { width: {IMG_ICON_CONTACT_WWW_WIDTH}px; height: {IMG_ICON_CONTACT_WWW_HEIGHT}px; }

Replace with
Code: Select all
ul.moddb-icons1 li.web-icon   { width: {IMG_ICON_MODSDB_WWW_WIDTH}px; height: {IMG_ICON_MODSDB_WWW_HEIGHT}px; }

Find
Code: Select all
ul.moddb-icons2 li.web-icon   { width: {IMG_ICON_CONTACT_WWW_WIDTH}px; height: {IMG_ICON_CONTACT_WWW_HEIGHT}px; }

Replace with
Code: Select all
ul.moddb-icons2 li.web-icon   { width: {IMG_ICON_MODSDB_WWW_WIDTH}px; height: {IMG_ICON_MODSDB_WWW_HEIGHT}px; }

I dont know if I did that right. Reason I added the new icon was the theme I am using does not have the standard WWW prosilver icon.

The download image you included shows up just fine but I cant for the life of me get the www icon to show up. Other than that, everything else works great. I will post a pic in a bit so you can see.

This is the theme I am using is CA Gen2 (default) - http://www.stsoftware.biz/phpbb30_style.ca_gen2.html

Any help would be great. :)

in case it is not a typo, you will need to upload it to your CA Gen2 imageset folder.
